The first public release of my wordpress plugin called AnyFont, finally got uploaded to the wordpress plugin repository today.
The plugin itself allows you to use any truetype font you wish for your post titles or menu items by generating images automatically, and if my explanation doesnt make the slightest bit of sense to you, have a looksee just a couple cm up this page at this posts title, and at my menu links. Looks funky ne?
This plugin has been a long time in the making and now that its finally out there, I am going to *try* to commit to working on it a lot more frequently than before. I have a lot of plans for this plugin to make it easier to use as well as add a couple features which will allow you to make some seriously sexy looking font styles.
If you like this plugin please rate it on the wordpress plugins site, and if you got any suggestions or stumble across a bug, please feel free to twitter me or drop me an email or something.

Well done Ryan. (two-fold)
I have installed the plugin now and thanks to you, my blog looking prettier.
I am thrilled to see you finally published a post on your blog. I look forward to many more interesting reads in future.
Take care.
Hey Ryan, nice plugin, however, I ran into a problem when installing..
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /usr/www/users/thefor/wp-content/plugins/anyfont/lib/class.admin.php on line 23
Hoping that you can assist..
Hey Chris,
Server requirements are PHP5 with the Imagick module installed, it looks like your server is running PHP4 though from that error message.
Hi. I am interested in trying your plugin out but cannot get it to upload a font. The message says that it is uploading, but does not get beyond that. I am running WP 2.7.1. I attempted the upload with the default theme. Thanks.
Hi Jonathan,
Check that the directorys “fonts” and “cache” are writable (CHMOD 0777) by the webserver and then try upload a font again.
@Johnathan that happened to me yesterday initially but then I hit CTRL + F5 (fresh) and also I uploaded from local files not a network file then it accepted it.
Hi Ryan, that was my guess, darn it – We’re running PHP Version 4.4.4-8! Is there no way you can work around that, I would imagine that most shared hosting servers would still be running PHP4?
This is such a great plugin and we searched for a while to find this exact solution – I even wrote stand-alone code to try and do it, but had problems with session headers and couldn’t resolve them :/
Hi Chris,
I am working on a couple of exciting new methods of rendering the fonts, which are completely independent of the php version that is running on the server. Just trying to decide how best to implement them at the moment, but I am hoping to get something released soon, so keep an eye out for the update!
Ryan:
I 777d the folders without any luck. Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you for your advice and prompt reply.
Hi Jonathan,
I just thought of something, are you perhaps trying to upload directly from your Windows font folder? If you are, try copying the font to another folder first and upload from there. Windows doesn’t allow uploads directly from the system font folder.
Ah nice one bro, I look forward to seeing the update, because we’d really like to use it on one of our popular websites.
Shot for adding the subscribe, now I don’t need to keep popping in here, awesome!
